Davos ski resorts and lodges

Davos has a secure place in the history of winter sports as the world's first surface lift opened here in the early 1930's. It has continously improved year after year to remain one of the world's best. This cosmopolitan town is also home to a number of world class medical institutions and hosts world leaders at the annual World Economic Forum. The many facets of this remarkable resort mean that marketing slogans such as "Europe's most extensive alpine resort" are not far fetched.

Because Davos is so popular, and the access lifts from Dorf and Platz are both funicular railways without huge uplift capacities, there can be long waits to get onto the slopes. On the other side of town there are more ways up the Jakobshorn, the resort's "fun mountain." Most of the ski areas are reached by funiculars or cable cars with the vast majority of the skiing above the treeline and 1800 meters
